A GOOD CATCH
In 1988, Ron Sellers made history as the first Seminole inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The former wide receiver spent three seasons in Tallahassee, compiling 3,598 yards, 212 receptions and 23 touchdown catches. Nicknamed “Jingle Joints” for his lanky 6-foot-4 frame, Sellers had 19 career 100-yard games and five career 200-yard games, far more than any other player in program history. During his 1968 senior season, Sellers led the nation with 1,496 receiving yards, while his career yardage stood as an NCAA record for 19 years. “Most of the time, one guy covering Sellers didn’t have a chance,” said assistant coach Bob Harbison. “His hands were fantastic; if he could touch the ball, he had it. … I thought Ron Sellers was simply the best college receiver I ever saw.”
