EDWARDS’ ENDEAVORS
Defender Becky Edwards came to Tallahassee from Downington, Pennsylvania, and made an immediate impact on the team. She started 25 games as a freshman and registered five game-winning assists in her first year. It didn’t take long for Edwards to get noticed on a national level. Still with the Seminoles, Edwards would claim a gold medal in 2008 as a member of the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team that captured the FIFA Youth World Cup in Chile. Following her graduation from FSU in 2010, Edwards was selected No. 12 overall by FC Gold in the Women’s Professional Soccer draft. In all, Edwards played professionally with stints with the Western New York Flash (WPS), Portland Thorns and Orlando Pride of the National Women’s Soccer League, and in Sweden.
