BURNING UP THE COURT
Date: 1980s to 1990s
Despite being forced to sit out her freshman season due to NCAA Proposition 48 and starting only 13 of 27 games in her sophomore season, few players in FSU basketball history have been as impactful as Wanda Burns. After three seasons with the Seminoles, Burns remains in the top five in program history with 16.0 career points per game. A sharpshooting point guard who terrorized opposing teams with a diverse skillset, Burns was a deft distributor of the basketball who constantly got into passing lanes on defense. Emblematic of her impact, Burns posted the first triple-double in program history in a game against Marquette in December 1990 with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
